Welcome to the City of Hart! Thank you for choosing us as your community to live in. There are certain steps that need to be completed in order to establish a utility account with the City. You will first need to fill out an application to open a new account.
The application needs to be brought to City Hall along with a picture ID, $200.00 (refundable) deposit and a rental/lease/mortgage document to show the location of the property.
Your deposit will be refunded or applied to your account, as long as 12 consecutive payments have been made, otherwise, it will be applied to your outstanding balance if you vacate the premises.
You will be billed for electricity, water, sewer, and garbage (the City will order you a trash receptacle). If you need natural gas, you should contact DTE.

RESTORATION OF ELECTRICAL SERVICE
Once service has been discontinued, the City shall restore service promptly upon a customer’s request when the cause for discontinuance has been cured or all money owed on an account has been paid in full.
Every effort will be made to restore service the day such is requested. In any event, restoration shall be made no later than the end of the first business day following the request for restoration.
The City will charge the customer a $50.00 fee during normal business hours for the Hart Energy Department for restoring service and $125.00 during all other hours to cover the cost of restoring service. This fee will be increased by $10.00 per occurrence for all additional times a service is restored after the first occurrence. This $10.00 fee provision shall not apply to voluntary discontinuance.
If the service requires disconnection at the pole the following charges will apply:
Normal Business Hours Reconnect $110.00
After Hours Reconnect $165.00
If disconnect/non-payment account is paid after 5 pm service will not be restored until the NEXT BUSINESS DAY.
